Part 2.1 : Platyheminthes
- Class trematoda (digenea or digenetic trematode)
There are 3 clases of Phylum Platyheminthes; - Class Monogenea (monogenetic trematode);
- Class Cestoda (cestodes or tapeworms).
Part 2.2 : Platyheminthes
To learn and discuss about:
- Fish cestodes;
- These are also known as tapeworms as they are flat and elongated resembling a tape. The body is segmented made up of proglottids . A collection of proglottids is known as strobila;
- In some fish cestodes the body consists of single segment and is said to be monozoic;
- The head of tapeworm is known as scolex and it has suckers , spines , grooves, and glandular areas or combination of these.
Part 3 : Nematode
- Today’s topic will briefly introduce to you what are nematodes and acanthocephalans and its morphology. The life cycle of helminths aren’t all direct, so l intend to explain the various life cycles and know the different types of host involved. I will provide few examples of these helminths plus a skim through on helminth pathology, the significant economic impact towards fish market value, and treatments and controls;
