UMTMOOC© has been developed to meet the wishes of the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) in realizing the 9th Leap which is Global Online Learning as a new leap in higher education. It is one of the 10 leaps proposed in the Malaysian Education Development Plan (Higher Education) 2015-2025. To achieve this goal, the ministry intends to make online learning the basics of the curriculum, by aggressively encouraging Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). Developed in alignment with the Ministry of Higher Education's initiative to promote global online learning, UMTMOOC aims to enhance enrollment, improve teaching quality, internationalize the institution, and reduce course delivery costs.
The courses are designed for unlimited participation and open access via the internet, allowing individuals of all ages, educational backgrounds, and genders to enroll. While the courses are free, there may be fees for those seeking academic credit.
🌟 UMTMOOC offers a variety of courses across different faculties. Some examples include:
✅ Environmental Management and Policy: Offered by the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Social Development, coordinated by Dr. Siti Aisyah Saat.
✅ Tourism Malaysia Industry: Also from the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Social Development, coordinated by Dr. Kalsitinoor Set.
✅Philosophy of Management: Provided by the same faculty, coordinated by Dr. Nur Amalina Mohamad Zaki.
To meet the need for broader access to education, Malaysia adopts the concept of “Free for Education, Pay for Certification.” The UMTMOOC© courses developed are based on UMT’s focus areas, utilizing the specialized expertise of UMT lecturers.
Additionally, UMTMOOC maintains an active presence on social media platforms like Facebook and YouTube, where they share updates and educational content related to their courses.
