Course Description
This course discusses the basic concepts of biosphere, individual, species, population, community, ecosystem functioning and its ecological structure. The emphasis will be given to components of ecology comprising the abiotic and biotic factors governing plant and animal growth, limiting factors in the environment, energy and biogeochemical cycles, population growth and life strategies. Ecological succession, environmental pollution, conservation and management issues related to these ecosystems are also will be highlighted.
This course introduces the concept of ecology which is a study of interrelationship of organisms and their environment or habitats.
This ecology of individuals deals with physiological and behavioural processes over a period of time. For an example; how do salt-water crocodiles regulate the water balance? Or how do Proboscis monkey deals with fibrous diet of leaves from mangrove trees.
Course Synopsis
Learning Management System (LMS) is a software application for the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting and delivery of educational courses or training programs. An LMS delivers and manages instructional content,
and typically handles student registration, online course administration, and tracking, and assessment of student work. Some LMSs help identify progress towards learning or training goals. LENTERA is a Learning Management System’s name for UMT. It
consists several platforms to support teaching and learning through e-Learning. And Blended Learning provides both an online component and face-to-face interactions.
This module is a guide that helps you develop a course that meets the blended-learning mode. As well as giving you experience in learning using e-learning technology. All functions in the basic level include general settings, activity settings and assessment
settings is organized and processed in an easy-to-understand with a step-by-step approach in the clear graphics form. This module is expected to help you to setting your course in LMS properly and quickly.

Course Outcome
1. Describe the different components of ecosystem, the types of biogeochemical cycles and importance of energy as drivers of ecosystem functioning correctly;
2. Demonstrate
an understanding that the physico-chemical and biological factors
governed ecosystems functioning from writing and sketches;
3. Building
a dynamic soft and teamwork skills in conducting laboratory/field works
and in discussing environmental issues during class discussion and PBL.
