Course Description
This course is designed to develop students’ confidence level in communication skills. The course mainly focuses on verbal, nonverbal and technical of communication strategies and skills. The course also exposes students to communication techniques for
daily conversation, in the group, society, workplace and public places. Students are required to demonstrate the techniques in the class, group discussion, presentation and field research. Emphasis is also given to emotional equation (EQ) as an important
element of effective communication.

1. Definition of communication, communication element and communication principle;
2. Definition of verbal communication, advantages and disadvantages of verbal communication and; difference in verbal communication with non verbal;
3. Functions and channels of non-verbal communication;
4. Introduction to emotional intelligence and emotional intelligence model;
5. Interpersonal relationships, interpersonal and conflicts;
6. Leadership communication, problem solving and decision making;
7. Effective communication of meetings and interviews;
8. Speeches and Presentation;
9. The diversity of communication goals.

By the end of the course, student should be able to learn and explore:
1. Definition of Communication, Communication Elements and Communication Principles;
2. Verbal communication definitions;
3. The advantages and disadvantages of verbal communication;
4. Verbal and nonverbal differences;
5. Functions and
non-verbal communication channels;
6. Intelligence and communication model;
7. Relationships and conflicts in communication.
